Mandrake often used in spiritual workings for hexing, sympathetic magic as a poppet, an amulet for protection from possession. Mandrake when placed on the mantle in your home is said to bring wealth, prosperity, success and joy to the home. It is an herb of Mercury, associated with fire. 

Do not ingest, it was known as "Little Death" because in historical use it was utilized to induce coma so that physicians could perform surgery, rousing the patient from the coma was somewhat problematic and many were buried alive because no vital signs could be found.
